The design objective was the creation of an iconic image for our era, a “machine for working, living and shopping”. Diverse functional requirements of retail at the first two floors and offices above have been juxtaposed with minimum interference and maximum horizontal and vertical accessibility, using the corner as the main entrance to the two-storey retail area.

The horizontal geometrical theme, based on the primary shapes of the equilateral triangle and the circle, has also been also extended in the elevations, defining the vertical profiles and the volumetric arrangement of the progressively receding floor levels.  Due to the restricted site area, landscape opportunities have been created with roof top gardens and green terraces.

Materials selected are poured concrete structure,  insulated metal cladding, precast concrete panels and curtain wall glazing, applied both vertically and at different slopes. A continuous coiled open metal screen has been proposed tat the corner to protect the outdoor patio and to provide a focal point to the building.
