Ashbridges Bay

Bio Gas

Co-Generation Plant

Toronto, Ontario

This facility will be located in the Ashbridges Bay Wastewater Treatment Plant, the largest sewage treatment facility in Canada.  It treats the wastewater produced by some 1.3 million city's residents and has a capacity of 818,000 cubic metres per day.

The proposed 20MW Biogas Co-Generation Plant will be fed by methane gas derived from the sludge produced by the sewage treatment process at a rate of 5,000,000 cubic metres of  methane gas per year for every 100,000 tons of treatment waste.

The Co generator Plant will convert the gas into electricity, which will serve the needs of approximately 18, 000 homes and into heat, which is needed in the treatment plant to treat the sludge and produce gas.

The biogas plant building, located in proximity to a residential area, has been designed in a contemporary colourful style clad in metal and concrete and will become a statement building in the area.
