Renovation-addition to an existing structure with simple walls and a flat roof, originally built by Baptists and later purchased by a Greek Orthodox congregation.
The program called for an expanded worship area, new narthex, offices, Sunday school classrooms and a larger hall in the lower level, all within an very small site .
This ambitious program has been realized by expanding by adding a two-storey addition to the front and one side of the existing structure.
All exterior walls, new and existing have been covered in stucco, with the addition of a sloped roof, a bell tower and a dome above the alter area, in an architectural style which combines modern features with traditional elements of the Greek Orthodox tradition. |
